Trans Friendly Medical providers in the Metro area (and beyond)

www.BellevillePride.Org
Trans Friendly Medical providers in the Metro area (and beyond)
by Sayer Johnson
Wednesday, July 6, 2011

We need your support.

We are currently working on a project to develop and maintain a database of Trans-friendly providers for the Trans and gender non-conforming community in the metro area and beyond.

If you are a Trans supportive medical provider, or know of one personally, please send me contact infromation. I am intrested in Medical Doctors, Endocrinologists, Plastic Surgeons, OB/GYN, Midwives, Doulas, Physican's Assistants, Therapists, Psychologists, Psychiartrists, LCSW, clinics, pharmacies, any and all personnel related to our physical and mental healthcare.

We are also interested in hearing from Trans persons who have had a positive experience in an ER, an extended stay in a hospital, and/or during a medical procedure.

Please message me any infromation you may have including name, address, phone number, as well as any insurance or out of pocket options you know of for payment.

Before including recommended providers on our list we will personally call or visit providers and ask some basic questions.

We appreciate any input. Please distribute this widely to the metro area, Southern Illinois and statewide in Missouri.

Sayer Johnson and Arin Ogle Ramsey

Daniel McCree Foundation

(ST LOUIS)

Ezekiel Project is an outreach ministry geared towards individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS.  Founded in 2006, this vibrant group includes both church congregants, and non-members from accross the St. Louis region.

Ezekiel Project strives to be a "Living Legacy" to all those who are no longer with us, and those who continue to live with HIV.  As some of you may know, Daniel McCree was instrumental in this outreach from it's inception until his passing in 2007.  Therefore, we continue this cause and wish to support it however possible.

Daniel McCree (1979-2007)
Metropolitan Community Church of Greater Saint Louis (MCCGSL) has announced the plans for this years Ezekiel Project Retreat.  The church will host this years annual retreat, held on April 30, 2011 in Soulard.  This years retreat is a one-day event, and is FREE of charge.   Breakfast & Lunch will be provided for participants, and speakers from various organizations will offer workshops throughout the day.

Ezekiel Project facilitates an annual retreat, maintains a memorial and meets monthly to offer a safe-space for socializing & support by others.  It also volunteers its efforts throughout the year with projects such as "Dining Out for Life", World AIDS Day, and the International Candlelight vigil held each year.

This year the Ezekiel team will be volunteering at SQUARE ONE BREWERY grill in Lafayette Square, in support of Dining out for Life.  More details can be found at www.MCCGSL.org.

"Treasure Drive" Seeks your LGBTHistory Artifacts

www.MetroEastPride.com
on Behalf of: St. Louis Gay History Project
By: Colby Kluthe
October 23, 2010

(ST. LOUIS)
It may seem to casual visitor to resemble an episode of "Antiques Roadshow", however this Sunday's Treasure Drive seeks to rediscover our history as a local LGBT community.

In recent years, there has been a determined effort to preserve and share the rich heritage of Lesbian, Gay and Transgender history in the St. Louis region.

Photos courtesy of Colin Murphy collection

The group known as the St. Louis Gay History project, lead by several spirited volunteers will be at Bad Dog Bar & Grill this Sunday October 24th to collect artifacts, photos, and stories from anyone who may have items or experiences of interest.
This past summer, a group gathered to share stories about East St. Louis, with stories that dated from the early 1950's. Until recently, the search for local LGBT history was confined to the private collections held at Washington University. This group has not only made our history available to anyone of interest, it will soon be publishing a comprehensive book for an even wider distribution.

Here is how you can help:
Go back into your closet (just for a hot minute) to dig for scrapbooks, photo albums, documents, diaries, movies/videos, magazines, newspapers - anything that documents your own personal and St. Louis' LGBT history over the years. Especially needed is information pre 1990s.

Find items your "not sure about" and perhaps find answers.
There will be formal remarks around 3 pm. AND a special guest appearance by a famous 70s ICON. We have also added a special feature - On Site Scanning.

If you have items you wish to "share" and not "donate", then we can scan or photograph the item on site.
*Ticket Stubs, Brochures, Bulletins & Flyers
*Tee-Shirts, Buttons, novelties
*books, publications, postcards, photos
*video-tapes, film, audio formats ect.
*Written accounts of historical events, people or places
* "What -Have's- You"

Please bring items that you are willing to donate to the Project or items the Project can scan or copy.

Summer Meals Program - Every Child is covered!

www.HopeandHelpCenter.org

KSDK -- Each day more than 10,000 kids across the city of St. Louis are benefiting from a program that ties nutrition and recreation in these tough economic times, but the city says the program is not being fully utilized.

The Summer Meals Program can provide breakfast and lunch for every child in the city of St. Louis. The federally funded program is available to any resident in the city that is under 19-years-old.

As many as 10,000 youths take advantage of the daily program, but organized say they can do twice that amount. They believe many people do not know the program exists. You do not have to sign up for the program, just show up to one of the 100 locations in the city that provides the meals.
For more information, call the
St. Louis Department of Human Services at 314-657-1695.
