JOPLIN, MO —
Helen Louise Larson, age 88, Joplin, passed away at 11 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Freeman East Hospital.
Helen was born Feb. 1, 1923, in Pittsburg, Kan., to the late Tiny Abner and Ione Robinson Abner and had lived in the Joplin area all of her life.
She worked as a legal secretary for many years retiring from William H. Perry III attorney’s office. She was a former director of music at Royal Heights United Methodist Church.
She was a former member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and the Choral Society at Missouri Southern State University. She was also a former president of the Joplin Little Theatre. Helen was a current member of First Presbyterian Church.
Helen married Carl G. Larson on Sept. 18, 1941, in Miami, Okla. He survives at the home.
Additional survivors include a son, Neill Larson, Branson; two daughters, Linda Unser and her husband, Ron, Joplin, and Rachel Williams and her husband, Steve, Sullivan, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Larson; and one brother, David Righthouse.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Rev. J. David Burgess will officiate. Private interment will precede the church service in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel.
